Brief biography

Sal Governale was born on October 24, 1968, in Long Island, New York as Salvatore C. Governale. His parents are devout Muslims whose origins are of African descent. Sal is said to have converted to Catholicism during his teenage years due to his dislike of the religion of his birth.

Growing up, Sal Governale worked at his father’s kabob shop, where he often butchered lambs in the alley. He was not coordinated enough to play sports as a teenager, so he was more involved in activities like breakdancing and rapping.

Career and rise to fame

After high school, Sal headed to community college with the intention of studying radiology but soon gave up and began looking for work. After several short-lived jobs, he quickly found solace in the stock market as a stockbroker, working tirelessly in boiler room operations (outbound call center) to sell penny stocks to widows. and orphans.

Many of his colleagues were convicted of securities fraud, Sal escaped jail by agreeing to testify against his colleagues. As a stockbroker, he had the pleasure of tapping The Howard Stern Show to prank phone calls and poke fun at the show’s executive producer, Gary Dell’Abate. After finishing second in the “Win John’s Job” contest, he was hired as a screenwriter.

Sal Governale adopted the stage name “Sal TheStockbroker” and would soon be recognized on the show for his phone calls and numerous stunts with Richard Christy. Sai denies being racist despite his crude racial humor on the show, as well as in stand-up appearances.
